Illegal flights – BACA calls for further investigations
BACA calls for further investigations to be carried out by the authorities, following the fatal accident involving footballer Emiliano Sala in January 2019.
In an interview with the BBC, CEO Dave Edwards warns that grey charters (flights booked on aircraft not licensed under regulations governing aircraft and pilots) undermine legitimate charter companies and put passenger lives in danger.

The association has held regular meetings with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for a number of years, over its concerns surrounding grey and illegal flights, and the risks they pose to passenger safety.
BACA has offered its full support to the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) and other regulatory bodies involved.
We strongly encourage all members to report any suspected illegal flights to us and to the CAA immediately and prior to any such flight being operated.
