WaterAid

BACA members generously donated £1840 to WaterAid at the Spring Lunch in April, via the charity raffle supported by our kind prize donors.

Well done, everybody. You help is certainly appreciated, and here is the text of a letter of thanks;

***************

Dear Mr Gilbert,

Over 15 million people with safe water; over 11 million people with sanitation; you are helping WaterAid change people's lives.

Thank you for your very generous donation of £1,840 which will make a real difference to some of the poorest people in the world. Access to safe water and sanitation are human rights that allow people to enjoy the benefits that better health brings. These benefits include an opportunity to go to school, to start a business or to grow crops. These are the first steps that allow people to make their way out of poverty.

Your association has helped people like Erika Makalli from Mbalawala Village, Tanzania where WaterAid has worked with local partners to build a tap stand. She told us:

"I feel I can at last look forward to a brighter future. Perhaps I will be a health and hygiene techer when I leave school. If I still had dirty water I wouldn't be going to school anymore. I probably wouldn't have had any real education at all. Also most of my friends would probably also have died from the diseases we used to get. Life would be miserable."

Thanks to your members people like Erika can look forward to a better tomorrow.

Best wishes
