Discounted and Concessional Travel
Most BACA member companies and their employees are eligible for concessional airline travel and discounted hotel accommodation, and many will probably already be taking advantage of this benefit. However, for those who haven’t, or who are not sure if they are entitled to the discounts, BACA has established a relationship with Touchdown Holidays of Gatwick, who specialise in reduced travel arrangements for employees of travel-related companies.
Their website is here; http://www.touchdown.co.uk/ and you will find a page there which will help you establish if you are eligible for discounts. Even retired members may be entitled to benefits.
Note that it is the airlines that set the parameters for eligibility, not Touchdown. You will be required to forward a letter from your employer confirming employment, and it is only when this has been ratified that the airline would release the discounted tickets. With Touchdown Plus (see below), this letter would only be required once a year and kept on file, irrespective of the number of journeys taken. Retired staff letters can be kept on file permanently.
For hotel-only packages, a letter is not required and length of service is immaterial, but ID may be requested on check-in at the hotel to confirm travel industry discount entitlement.
Touchdown also has quite a few ad-hoc airline rates periodically for which members may be eligible, so it is always worth applying and they will advise accordingly. Flight offers are mainly based on UK departure points.
You may also wish to consider joining TOUCHDOWN PLUS. This new travel club for industry employees offers monthly holiday prizes, the chance to win upgrades on flights, hotels and offers excellent discounts.
Details are at www.touchdownplus.co.uk
We hope you will find this facility useful, and will be able to take full advantage of any benefits to which you are entitled. Happy holidays!
